At the recently concluded 2025 NBA Ikeja Branch Law Week, I spoke on the importance of asking hard but necessary questions including: “The fall in the standard of the legal profession: Who do we blame?”
I addressed the possible root causes and the need to confront the institutional weaknesses that continue to undermine the profession. I also stressed that strong institutions are the bedrock of professional integrity, and capable individuals cannot thrive where the system itself is broken.
As we continue to reflect on the future of the legal profession, we must not shy away from holding our institutions accountable. Reform begins with honest conversations and only through collective effort can we rebuild the structures that safeguard the integrity and future of our profession.
