A human rights lawyer, M. O Idam has sent a welcome message to the new wigs, admonishing them on what is expected of a lawyer been called to the largest bar in africa.

Dear New Wigs :
You have been admitted to Nigerian Bar, believed to be the largest in Africa. Congratulations!
Be reminded that the price for being donned in that ancient costume called wig and gown comes with array of hopes and expectations.
Beyond the superficial showy, flashy, funfair on your day of ‘Call to Bar’ lies the struggle to meet those hopes, expectations and demands, not only to family members but to friends and foes, too.
The melody in your spoken words, the elegance in your new foot steps and the aura that exudes from your now appearance will fade before nightfall, but you must not forget that you are forever weighed by either the weight of your impact or the size of your pocket.
While merry this day for your Call, remember the chambers don’t pay as the oil firms do, the courts are unfriendly when their rules are misquoted and the gallery must hum when you goof.
Dear learned friends, the sky will be large and thin to you, depending on your wings. You either take a flight to the top or fall by the wayside. Whichever is your fate will be served as reference to the younger generation, by either those friends or foes who dine at your Call today.
But, trust me, you are in the best profession.
