STAKEHOLDERS MUST RESPECT THE RULE OF LAW : HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY TO MEMBERS OF THE NIGERIAN BAR ASSOCIATION – SIR. OAIKHENA OSAGIE

1st October, 2025

The Journey to our independence as a nation was more of an intellectual battle, with both forceful and persuasive arguments. Notable Nigerians must be remembered for their struggles that led to our independence, to wit: Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief. Obafemi Awolowo, Alhj Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Chief. Anthony Enahoro etc.  Since we became independent, our common preservations have been sustained by the rule of law, Legal Practitioners in this country are like the hangers that hold the rule of law. In the struggle to uphold the fundamental rights of Nigerians, legal Practitioners have been killed, injured  and unjustly imprisoned, yet the Bar is standing tall and stronger.

Stakeholders must respect court decisions, the security agencies must resist the temptation of abuse of power, there must be accountability. Sixty Five Years of Independence is a laudable achievement.  We pray for a better Nigeria.

Happy Independence My Learned Seniors and Colleagues.
