In a country where silence has become a conspiracy, even when we possess the moral courage to speak against injustice, the system has cowed us into docility.
Virtually all our institutions are being taken over and destroyed by political overlords, infecting it with corruption and impunity. Yet, we remain tongue-tied.

It is so bad that the cowards amongst us are the ones casting stones at the courageous ones, just as they did to Jesus Christ.

Islam and Christianity were propagated by the deviants of their time, today, they have created an order for humanity.

The duo of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and Jesus Christ of Nazareth came to change age-old social practices and stood against the accepted social norms of their time. They both suffered persecution and were labeled as deviants, but today they are our heroes.

Deviance according to the French Sociologist,Émile Durkheim is an inevitable part of society and a basis for social change. In a country like Nigeria, we need more deviants like Dele Farotimi, who will speak the truth and are not afraid of persecution.

We all pretend that our judicial system is not wrapped in corruption and that judgments are not for the highest bidder.

We all pretend that we have a country; the headquarters of poverty in the world, where corruption and impunity have become state policy.

Not all of us can pretend; some individuals are not afraid of the walls of prisons and have chosen justice over safety.

I salute Dele Farotimi’s courage and encourage more deviants to challenge this corruption-ridden system and create a new order.
